First of all I have to say that nobody got hurt and that is the most
important thing of all. It was late october. Suddenly snow fell on ground and stayed there.
After few snowy days me and Pipsa decided to go change winter tyres on.
It was sunday ... tyres were at Pipsa's parents place about 50km from
our home. In the car with me were Pipsa and our dog Heli who were
sitting in Pipsa's lap. Roads were very slippery with summer tyres so
I drove extra carefully. That wasn't enough.

|
Trip was no problem at all because I were extra careful all the time.
Hundred meters from our destination I turned car to another road and
then it happened. Car didn't turn (even that speed was close to zero)
but start a slow and painful slide toward side of the road and
deep drop.

|
|
As car slid it almost stopped on side of the road. Because of wet leaves
under the snow there were no friction at all. Car slid out of the road
and turned upside down at zero speed.
|
|
After few seconds of disorientation and noticing that I was upside down in car
Pipsa asked if everything was okay and I saw Heli walking on roof of the car
(which was kinda funny looking and it was good to notice that Heli was okay too).
Pipsa told she was okay and told me to turn engine off. Quickly we were out of
the car and phoning Pipsa's parents who came in few minutes.

After a call and about half an hour wait for tow-truck, they lifted our little
car up. That was when we saw how much damage it did get. It was amazing that
nobody got hurt. They took the car away to wait tomorrow and visit to insurance
company ... which were the next shock.
|
|
In insurance company they said our insurance wasn't good enough and it wouldn't
pay anything happening to our car. And we had paid up for our insurance for years
with thought it would cover anything. Damn those insurance companies are sneaky.
|
|
|
Car was in few carages and it would cost around 3500-5000 euros to put that
thing back in the road. That's a hell of a lot money for a car we are
still paying up.
|
|
And like that wasn't bad enough ... new roof wasn't available in scandinavia or
europe either. Actually no-one were sure there even was roof in factory
in Japan. In that case they would have to make one and it would take from
three weeks to three months ... and it wasn't even sure if there would be
one after that.

|
|
Well, that's our little car adventure which isn't still over. We have made appeal
to insurance company that we were misled by our insurance. Let's see how that
will go. We are going to have some car for the time those new parts take to come.
Hopefully it will be closer to three weeks and three months.
